Droid Starfighter
As you can tell, I like sci-fi. And I think both Star Wars and Star Trek are just as good as each other. They are different, so you can't really say which one is 'better.' Anyway, this is the Droid Starfighters from Star Wars Episode I. None of these pictures are links to bigger pictures. The little ships are only about 3 inches long, so making thumbnails of these pictures would be kinda pointless.
The Droid Starfighter
They came in a set of three with a stand. The little ships are 4 pieces that snap together in about 10 seconds if you rush it. I added a little glue to make them stay together better and to help close gaps. They are actually nicely detailed and fairly accurate from what I can tell. It's nice to see AMT/ERTL put a little extra effort into their sci-fi models.
From behind
I painted them by hand. If case you are wondering what colors I used, the main tan color is Armor Sand. The darker tan on the back of the body is Dark Tan (if you can make out where the dark tan is). The rust color is rust (of course). The gray is Euro I Gray and the little pincers in the front and the laser tips are steel. The rest of the markings are just back. They are all Testors Model Master paints. There were no decals, so this was a quick project.
And the side
These were fun to paint and they look good when they are done. I just popped them on the stand and that was it. I like these simple ones. I imagine you could go all high tech and make them look weatherd and the like, but I like them like this.
