Katie's F-16 Fighting Falcon
Alyssa has made several models now, and all that time Katie kept saying she wanted to make one. Now that Katie is old enough, I let her pick one out so she can join in the fun. This one is another prepainted snap together model, and is pretty decent for a quick build. As for Katie, she liked the colors so that's all she needed.
It went together pretty easily, but the model is still a little too difficult for a 6 year old. But I knew that going in, so I helped her the whole time. I had her look at the instructions and then find the next part we needed. Once I cut it off the spruce, I gave it to her to try to put it together. She was able to do most of the assembling, but the fuel tanks gave her some trouble.
And why are we cheering for the Redskins?
Once we were done, Katie promptly started flying it around the house at top speed. She was making jet noises and everything. Obviously, it was a great hit. Now it's sitting on her dresser, but she pulls it down from time to time and flies it around the dog some. He really loves that.
With any luck, I'll have another future modeler on my hands.
Katie's Thoughts
As is customary for my 'guest builders,' here are her comments about making the model:
I had fun building my model. It looks cool to me. I like the airplane. It's a really cool airplane.
And just to note, Katie picked out the colors for this page. She likes yellow most, but I vetoed that.
