Taiidan Interceptor
This is a paper model of the Taiidan Interceptor from the game Homeworld. The game came out in 1999 when I was in pilot training. It won several awards, and was a fan favorite for quite some time. If you've been around my website some, you should see by now that I've converted several of the game 3D models to paper models, and this was always one of my favorite ships. I felt it was time to actually make a nice one that I could put on display.
The model isn't too dificult to make, but the geometry makes some of the parts hard to get together just right. I had to redo one or two that I messed up, but it all come out pretty well in the end. I modified this model from the one that I have online by making the fold lines very faint. That way you can only see them if you get really close and look for them.
The stand is something that I've been working on recently too. The F-22 and the Seagull are the first two models that I've mounted on wood stands, and I really liked the results. So I decided to do it again with this one.
The pole of the stand just goes right up through the bottom model and actually rest against the inside of the top of the model. I used some leftover stain to give it a finished look. The results are rather nice, and it was pretty easy to do.
I enjoyed making this one and I am really happy how it turned out with the stand. If I only had more space to display them...
