Orbital Taurus Model 3210

This is my fifth model that I've designed. It's Orbital Science's Taurus Launch Vehicle, Model 3210. The 3 means it uses a Castor-120 zero-stage and XL Stages 1 & 2, the 2 means 92" fairing, the 1 is for the Orion-38 third stage, and 0 is for no fourth stage. You can learn more about the rocket on Orbital's website. It's their ground based version of their Pegasus rocket. In short, they took their Pegasus rocket, slapped it onto a Peacekeeper booster stage and called it a Taurus.

I wasn't planning on making this model up front because of all the little logos on the rocket. I couldn't find a third of them at first, so I decided to just let it go. But then I got in touch with someone at Orbital, and he was able to hook me up with all sorts of goodies. So I'd like to give a shout out to Carlos Niederstrasser for all the help he gave me. With out him, I couldn't have made this rocket. Thanks Carlos.

This model is my largest one yet, and the most complicated. The zero-stage was something of an experiment, since the diameter changes so subtly. It should work out well as long as you don't print it on too thick paper. You'll see what I mean in the instructions.

Pictures and Download

The test model turned out really well. All these pictures are of the test. I always like it when the test turns out as well as a final. I was a little concerned about the long thin section in the middle, but it wasn't hard to roll. Just be patient and you will get it.

I'd like to make another version of the Taurus at some point. I have the data on the actual rocket, so I'll just need to get some pictures and logos. Also, I would like to make the engine area more accurate. I don't have any pictures of info on what's down there, so it's a blank bottom. Since it sits so close to the ground you can't see it, but I'd like to make it more accurate. But for now, this model will really flesh out a modern 1/96 scale rocket collection.

Just so you know, all these logos are hard to find. Do you even know what that flower is for? And those red circles with lines in it? Carlos hooked me up with all the logos so I could finish this one off. So, without further ado.

Instructions and building notes are included with the model. I recommend that you print this on regular white paper, around 24 lb. Also...
